Subaru 2.0D, really bad or not that bad?

Evening all

I'm thinking about buying a 2014 2.0D Auto Outback on 120k miles.

I've always heard rumours that the engines are bad, is this justified or just a few bad examples.

Any information is gratefully appreciated.

Only ever read terrible things about them. Colleague bought one from new, had regular DPF issues and eventually sold it at 70k disappointed as the previous two petrol outbacks had done double that.
He had a 12 mile commute so perhaps not a perfect use case.

It sounded and felt like a commercial engine, nothing like the refinement you’d expect from a contemporary French or German offering. I would run a mile. (If you buy one you may have to )
