Looking for a used large petrol/hybrid SUV for family duties and the F-Pace is looking like a possibility. Sounds like the diesels can be problematic, does anyone have feedback on the 2.0 petrol engine? Anything else to look out for on the F-Pace?

Steering racks seem problematic.

A friend had all sorts of fun and games with the HVAC on his F-pace, not sure if its a wider issue.

Avoid the 2.0d as you know, petrol ingenium seems fine.

I can't be arsed to find it but there's a reader's ride thread on a 3.0 supercharged one that might be worth looking up.

There's a wealth of "avoid the Ingenium engine" stories out there, don't know if that's the one you're looking at.

It’s the 2.0 d Ingenium engine that’s problematic.

Dad has one, I think it averages just under 30 mpg, he has had it coming up to 7 years, but in that time other than servicing nothing has gone wrong

My friends XE has just lunched its P250 engine- 7 years old, 44k miles
Anecdotal, but i would avoid the 2.0 of any description

Thanks for all the replies. The low mpg doesn't sound great but the fear of a big bill somewhere down the line is the biggest worry!

I think this is exactly what we are going to do. The RX was already on the shortlist and definitely feels like the safer option. Just need to decide whether to go old or new shape....

I don't think the mpg is too bad, my Skoda does less, I wouldn't say the 2.0 petrol is anymore unreliable than BMW/Audi equivlents.

Mazda CX-60 and CX-80 seem to get very good reviews, I suspect a much better quality product than the Jaguar F-Pace.

...or Lexus RX as mentioned above, they also come in RXL with 7 seats.

...or Genesis GV70
