Is auto trader worth it?
Discussion
I've sold all of my cars on the ebay platform. I simply can't stand the format that AT uses for the description, there's no way of making a large amount of information easy to digest (i.e. listing factory options or modifications etc). Couple that with their frankly ludicrous pricing, I just couldn't ever bring myself to use it.
eBay charges a flat £20 for a 30 day listing. Yes you do get some silly offers from people "cash money today!" but you can set up rules to automatically decline offers below a certain amount.
Most cars have sold relatively quickly and close to my listed price. Only my 2017 Jaguar XJ hung around for a couple of months but even that sold on ebay eventually at a price I was happy(ish) with.

How far off your own valuation are these ridiculous offers?
So it s worth 15k all day and that s a lower price tbf 500-700 below market average and dealers were offering 11-13k.I think you’ve answered your own question. AT will have the widest reach, you just have to be prepared to do the work that would have otherwise been lost in the dealer making some money.

So the dealers want to make a margin?

Oh yeah of course I understand that they need to make profit but I’m not prepared to sell for that much lower. I think you ve answered your own question. AT will have the widest reach, you just have to be prepared to do the work that would have otherwise been lost in the dealer making some money.
I would try WBAC but my cars SORN and you have to drive to them for appointment

So why not sell it to WBAC?
Like I say it’s SORN and you have to go to them there’s no other way. Plus let’s be honest 15.4 is with full service history and immaculate condition. I have only partial history from the time I’ve had it and it’s got very very minor wear and tear scuffs so by end they’ll probably offer me like 12k or something stupid. Stevey101 said:

Why don’t you simply declare the partial service history and any defects/damage on the online valuation tool? If you are honest they will honour the offered price. Depending on the car and age, partial service history might be the reason why its not selling. Can you do any detective work to fill in the gaps (thus making it genuinely full service history) or are there eg overdue services in your ownership period and other stuff missed etc? Also, what colour is it?
