after a Sunday car for high days and the local shows. cheap and cheerful, obvs - im a Yorkshire man.

had my heart set on an MGF VVC, cheap, fun, feels fast but won't lose my license. found one for £1500, full ticket, looked good from 5 yards. HG done. but cldnt fit in it!! knees where round the steering wheel :-(

ive tried a Z3 and cldnt fit in that either. I did have a m2 MR2 15 years ago and fitted in that - but there a bit spenny one.

any suggestions on what I can fit in please!

Try a TVR, designed specifically for tall people because the owner of the company was tall.

I’m a 6ft4 man myself so I have a little experience in this area.
I’m assuming you want a 2 seat convertible from the first post so ones I’ve tried or owned I can fit in and drive in no particular order

Mk3 Toyota MR2
Porsche Boxster 986
NC Mazda MX-5
BMW Z4
Mercedes SLK

Ones I can’t fit in properly and drive:

Mazda MX-5 NA or NB
Nissan 350Z- this one I could sit in but my arms were way too long to be comfortable.

6’2” here, found a boxster 986 fitted nicely once I’d removed the lower centre console - this is an easy mod using Porsche parts. Otherwise left leg was cramped. 987 boxster has a bit more leg space and was comfy without any mods.

You'll fit in a Westfield with shell seats. I'm 6'5" too, A westy is a fab weekend toy. Loved my old one. Lots of performance for the money and cheap to run.

I note the Mazda NC is mentioned above....I'm 6'3 and whilst I do fit into my 2007 PHRT model, I wouldn't want to do too long a journey in it. As a Sunday toy, i'm sure it would be fine, but probably worth going to sit in one first.

Fantastic car for the money otherwise!

+1 for TVR.

I find MGF's have an odd driving position anyway, and I can get comfortable in most things.

As it seems you're on a tight budget, then mr2 roadster is the way to go, easily the most reliable out of all the suggestions and the most fun to chuck around outside of an elise

I'm not tall but my friend is around 6'2 and he found my NC MX-5 too cramped at the knees. He is all legs and no torso though.

Just want to toss in there that the NC might be more roomy than the other generations but if you have long legs you are still going to have a hella st time in it.

This only highlights how you need to have a seat yourself, you must be all torso! biggrin

I'm 5`11 and a 986 was just ok for me, the 987 was miles better.

Yeah, it's never quite as simple as just looking at overall height. It's partly where your height is - legs or torso - but also how much padding you have between your hips and the seat and how far you can lean the seat back. I'm 6'3" 34in inside leg, I couldn't fit in either the E89 Z4 or the R172 SLK because my legs were too long. On the other hand I fit OK in a Mk1 TT. You have to go and sit in them.

Oddly enough I found my MG TF to be very comfortable and I'm the same height as you. The TF's have adjustable steering wheels (which I don't think the F does), so could be worth trying one of those out?

I reckon most Porsches will fit. The 924/944/968 certainly, I'm a mere 6'2" but don't have the seat right back and there's plenty of head room.

I assume that's a E89 z4?

I have a e86 z4 and at 5,11 I have the seat all the way back and a bit of cloth to stop it squeaking against the rear bulkhead...

I am 6'7" with 36" inside leg and could just about manage in a 944 S2 but it wasn't comfortable. So someone a bit shorter could be ok.
