Daily barge?

We are going to be selling my wife's Twingo RS133 and our Mini Cooper S R56 soon, and both cars will be getting replaced with an F56 Cooper S / JCW. That means that I will need another car as I currently use the Mini, but I'm giving my half of it to my wife as I have had my use out of it.

I will have around £4k to spend on a new daily, and I'm considering getting back into a barge.

My only requirements really are automatic gearbox and preferably Xenon headlights and dab radio (the mini has spoiled me), or at least the ability to upgrade the audio to dab.

I don't need it to be a performance behemoth, just something that I can commute to work in and go on some decent longer distance drives in. My commute is 16 miles each way.

I've previously had a MK1 Volvo S80 D5.

You could upgrade your headlight bulbs on a replacement car to something like Osram Nightbreakers, as I seem to do that on almost any car I buy secondhand...

Buy my XJR, for sale in the PH classifieds for a bargain £5k! Doesn't have DAB admittedly, but assume something can be done to retrofit?

At 4k You'll have to add DAB/Android auto/CarPlay.

My daily is a 2005 BMW 330i that cost me less than £4k back in 2018, but I got half my money back in 2023 when a light tap in the rear made it a Cat N!

Mine is a manual, but does have factory Xenons and a retro-fitted DAB head unit.

But if you aren't bothered about performance you could probably get something newer.
