JDM WRX STi Hawkeye in 2025..

Well here I am again. After comparing every car you can think of for the last 4 months, I think I have decided on a freshly imported WRX STi Hawkeye.
Currently own a auto M135i 380bhp which is dull and uninvolving. I've been craving that raw analogue old school Japanese feel for a while now, I owned a MK2 MR2 years ago and still to this day it's the one car I miss. There was just something very special about that car. Not sure if it was the JDM feel or the old school analogue feel, but I still miss it.
Was originally flirting between old Type R's, the JDM STi's, an E92 M3 (I know, not JDM), and then the FK8 Type R / GR Yaris / M2 LCI as a sensible modern option. I always came back to the FK8 as the sensible modern option, but the STi was always the "go with your heart" option.
One popped up near me and it seems perfect. The car is completely standard. I will probably do the usual FBO to increase the power and maybe some handling improvements but other than that I will leave it untouched.
I guess I just want a sense of understanding as to what it will be like to own one of these cars in 2025, as the car world has moved since, and how they compare to my dull M135i, and some of the other options on my list. Will I be itching a scratch with the Subaru? I have never owned one before.

I had a similar vintage Legacy with the twinscroll turbo engine only available as a JDM.
The Impreza will of course be a step up but the legacy was great to drive, felt like driving a car rather than piloting a computer which is how I find alot of modern stuff feels
Got rid of mine for 2 reasons;
1, the mpg, fuel bills were too much for me
2, parts, parts prices, especially for anything specific to a JDM model were surprisingly easy to source but surprisingly expensive too
Oh, and don't forget the fact that you'll have to make actually
phone calls to get insurance, which kind of adds to the retro experience
A blue Impreza on gold wheels with an obnoxious exhaust and a blow off valve is definitely a bucket list car for me though
One thing the Impreza has which the legacy didn't was the un equal length headers... That Impreza sound is epic

I've read that about the insurance but I've put the reg in a few comparison websites, ticked Japanese import and I get quotes (very reasonable prices too, more than half the price of my M135i). Fuel I'm already used to, currently average about 17 MPG haha
