I've only ever had brand new VAG, mostly Audi (Pretty reliable) or used Land Rovers (big fan, reliability not so much)

We have 4 kids and a 6 seater ID.Buzz takes care of that, but 7 seats is still useful in a 2nd car. 5 proper sized seats is also useful if it's not a 7 seater

I had an A6 PHEV when they came out and I liked the flexibility, but realistically only a 4 seater with kids seats etc

I started out looking at Defenders, but they seem to hold their value so well I think they would have a massive correction if I bought one. Range is limited and then you're relying on a 2.0 four pot. A LR PHEV (RRS, FFRR) scares me out of warranty

So, Q7 PHEV looks OK, Then I saw the 45e, for similar money and the range on that looks great - generally my journeys are 4 - 40 miles

I didn't know the X5 can be had with 7 seats as a petrol / diesel

Then an X7 popped up, which seems good value

I know nothing about BMWs (can bore on Land Rovers) - the warranty costs seem huge! £2k + / year

Anyone got one?

Budget £25 - £45k

PS Will not have a Mercedes - ran an EQB and the servicing costs / dealer apathy were another level for an electic car

X5 3rd row should be thought of as emergency use only. Very tight, also speccing 3rd row means 2nd row becomes electric, which is slow and a PITA.

X7s are very well specced compared to similar priced X5s. Tempting if you can get past the looks...

Volvo XC90 - True 7 seater that you can even transport 7 adults in. Also very comfortable, IMHO Moreso than the X5

Didn't think the 45e came as a 7 seater due to the battery? Or the Q7 come to think of it.

The X5 45e is only a 5 seater as you say. I've got 7 seats in the X5 40d, and I appreciate the extra flexibility of having them.

Gutting you won't have Merc given GLS!

Kia EV9 will be in budget in about 10 minutes.
