BMW X5 45e / Audi Q7 TFSIe / X7
Discussion
I've only ever had brand new VAG, mostly Audi (Pretty reliable) or used Land Rovers (big fan, reliability not so much)
We have 4 kids and a 6 seater ID.Buzz takes care of that, but 7 seats is still useful in a 2nd car. 5 proper sized seats is also useful if it's not a 7 seater
I had an A6 PHEV when they came out and I liked the flexibility, but realistically only a 4 seater with kids seats etc
I started out looking at Defenders, but they seem to hold their value so well I think they would have a massive correction if I bought one. Range is limited and then you're relying on a 2.0 four pot. A LR PHEV (RRS, FFRR) scares me out of warranty
So, Q7 PHEV looks OK, Then I saw the 45e, for similar money and the range on that looks great - generally my journeys are 4 - 40 miles
I didn't know the X5 can be had with 7 seats as a petrol / diesel
Then an X7 popped up, which seems good value
I know nothing about BMWs (can bore on Land Rovers) - the warranty costs seem huge! £2k + / year
Anyone got one?
Budget £25 - £45k
PS Will not have a Mercedes - ran an EQB and the servicing costs / dealer apathy were another level for an electic car
