GT Car under 50k
Discussion
Hi all so after a lifetime of building and racing cars and and a slight indiscretion with a tree whilst out on my bike I’ve had to retire early, I allways said one day I’d get myself a nice GT car, We go down to mid France once a year and also a trip to Scotland once or twice a year, All I’ve come up with so far is the Jaguar F Type Svr,Wondered if anyone else may have any suggestions? Thanks Drew
Mustang V8 for the engine alone.
Had the pleasure of driving one for a week and that engine is simply wonderful and an event every time you start the ignition. Handling and ride were also generally good but did I mention the engine?
I imagine the overalll package is not as complete as the other cars listed and there are a few corners cut regarding interior quality and what not but you’ll get a nearly new one with your budget.

I would always get the roadster version of a GT car with an amazing sounding engine so i could enjoy it and the sunshine, F type would be my choice at that price point,

Jaguar F Type
Mercedes SL63
Maserati Turismo/Cabrio
Ford Mustang V8
Alfa Romeo Gulia Quad
Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
I did think Maybe a Porsche 997 Turbo, But I believe luggage space and the fact I’m 6ft5 might be an issue??.Thanks all Drew.

Huge range and mpg considering, can upgrade another Michelin star for dinner when you reach your destination

While they can GT things like the Mustang/RC F etc are a step down from true GT cars imo.
LC500, they're a great GT car & imo are a Japanese GranTurismo:

As long as they have full Lexus history you'll have another 2 years of warranty left.
S560 coupe, these are fantastic GT cars & they'll get a hustle on when the road allows:

A more sporty GT would be the AMG GT S Premium:

M850i, these are great value as depreciation has hurt them harder than the S Coupe.

I would try the SL500 as well as the 63, the latter being fantastic, but hard. And of you want GT, the 500 is better. JayEmm has good tubes of both, watch the 63 firstz, which he drives first.Jaguar F Type
Mercedes SL63
Maserati Turismo/Cabrio
Ford Mustang V8
Alfa Romeo Gulia Quad
Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Then add an S class coupe and cab to the list. Different, but depends on what you're looking for. Id want fast wafting to the south of France.

If you find yourself needing a bit more space a Rapide S is worth considering and must be worth having a V12 on the shortlist!Jaguar F Type

Giulia Quadrafoglio? I bought one a month ago and impressed with it
I test drove one a few months ago someone snapped it up before me. In fairness I have test drove the following.
AR Gulia Quad
Audi TTRS
Jaguar F Type
MB A45S
BMW M2 (new shape)
Lexus RCF
The AR Gulia is the answer. Go on YouTube and search for Harry’s Garage review of one from a few years back. Pretty much states it’s a perfect GT car wolf in sheep’s clothing.
My mind is pretty much made up. It will be my next car. Just need to finish saving the funds and wait until I demob so I’m not putting 1000s of miles on it commuting to my unit.
I’ll tell you what’s a far better car than the Mustang: Dodge Challenger.
- Decent tech and interior (the Mustangs cheap interior is woeful!)
- You can actually have people accommodated comfortably in the rear seats, and adults at that! - no chance of that in the Mustang!)
- Boot can take 3-4 large suitcases easily (it’s huge!)
- Very comfortable car to drive long distance. It makes a great GT and we’ve taken ours all over France and Belgium.
- Surprisingly cheap insurance.
- LHD only though. Not a deal for me as I’m used to driving LHD, but the driver assistance tech really helps.

It’s really not, lhd only for many is a non starter, more barge like, mustang has a much better engine and makes a great GT.- Decent tech and interior (the Mustangs cheap interior is woeful!)
