Used car mechanical inspection

Looking to spend £30k on a used 840d. Both the AA and the RAC cannot inspect until late next week or next month.

Any recommendations for other providers and are they worth doing?

Some will just take it for an MOT assuming that's practical to do.

It depends on the inspection.

An inspection by a specialist who is familiar with the make and model may well find things that can be used to negotiate the price down, often by more than the cost of the inspection.

At worst case, it could avoid buying a total pup.

Some inspections seem to be done and dusted in around 2 hours - not sure thats quite long enough. I normally spend 4 hours when I'm inspecting cars.

Are there any BMW specialists near the selling garage because you may be able to get them to do an inspection.
