Looking to replace my defender 2015, 2.2tdci 110 5 seat utility wagon.
Replacement should be able to tow 3 to 3.5 tonnes.
Need 4x4, location dictates it will be driven lightly off road every day. Occasional heavier off road.
Live on the coast so as rust proof as possible.
Minimum of 4 seats, and the ability to carry 2 dogs and the odd sheep.
Simplicity and reliability more important than bling / accessories.
Live 30+ miles from the nearest dual carriageway so DPF issues need considering.
Don’t want electric due to long journeys towing, so Diesel or Petrol only.
Budget up to 30k but the cheaper the better. Cash purchase. Don’t like depreciation!
Currently considering Hilux, Landcruiser and early new shape Defender, perhaps 2.0 sd4.
What would you guys suggest? Should I just keep the current Landy?!

I have a similar vintage 110. It is lifestyle choice more than anything as it doesn’t really do anything as well as a newer 4x4. I’m not going to replace it but if I did would probably be a double cab - VW Amarok or the Merc equivalent with a 6 cyl diesel

I'd keep your current Defender, perhaps invest some money into preventative maintenance, although the 2.2D is the engine to have!

I have a 2021 New Defender and am very happy with it after 70,000 miles from new.

Don’t get the 2.0 4cyl - it got phased out after 12 months for a reason.
