Part ex and tax

I'm part exing my current Volvo this Saturday. The tax usually gets paid monthly (£52) on the 1st of each month. I assume it's fine to cancel the DD this Saturday morning? I only ask as the DD run from DVLA will likely already be set for Mondays payments.

I'd cancel it today. You have no payment to make so why leave it til the last minute? Seems a very odd train of thought.

Edited to add: Cancel the DD but NOT the tax but do do that when the car goes back.
