Hi, I’ve never leased before but heard a few stories of big bills at end of lease. I’m after recommendations. Who are the good guys? Looking at an Alpine A290 GTS with a couple of options. Thanks

I think most of them are signed up to BVRLA which has a set of rules regarding what should be considered wear and tear, and therefore not chargeable and what is not. I've had no issues with Lexautolease, collected by BCA. Majority of very minor nicks and scratches were covered by wear and tear and I had one chargeable dent in the wing right on the crease which they charged £70 for which I thought was reasonable.

My advice would be to check if the company is signed up to BVRLA and go from there.

Lex were fantastic to deal with.

From leasing thread manheim or whatever they're called were one to avoid, and I think leasys were mentioned. Vast majority were fine.

I did find Vwfs an absolute pain in the arse if there's an issue with the car, if it's faulty you can't return it, even if under manufactures warranty and are expected to continue payments even if it goes beyond the agreed term (which if it's broken for nearly 4 months is a lot of money). Their complaints process takes 12 weeks too and is poor, but by that point you just want rid of the piece of crap so don't want to spend more money escalating further to ombudsman and being stuck with a knackered car for 6 months.

Thanks for replies. Lex don’t seem to have the A290 GTS but I’ll maybe call them to check.

There was another company mentioned a few days ago that someone said was reputable - I think it was Jet Finance. Anyone used them? Cheers
