Hi All,

I hope you all doing well.
Unfortunately, my ownership of my current car will have to go to an end as there are too many things to fix and im not willing to invest that much in her.
I have a BMW 2007 520d m57 engine currently on 220k+ miles mechanic said Bruh labour and parts costs 2k if you wanna keep driving.
It's nothing major, just stuff that needs to be replaced every time the miles are reached im just worried about that timing chain may die soon as well because when i bought the car it didnt came with any service history which was my mistake i shouldnt buy it but i was in a rush and i needed car ASAP the good things it that i can say i have been owning her for nearly 3 years bought her cheap did her job but i dont will to invest in her anymore.
So im lnterested in few cars: Infinity q50 , Jaguar XE or XF, AUDI A5 3.0 TDI V6 or Mercedes CLS.
If someone can give their thoughts about those cars, if they had any experience with them, like major problems stuff like that because i hear lots of people complaining and in the other hand lots of people are happy after long term ownership so im consufed.
i just want to know which of them will be most reliable and also not that expensive to maintain haha.

Thanks in advance, guys i will appreciate your time for giving your opinion.

My experience with an old Merc (>10yo >100k miles) is stuff going wrong. For reliability I'd say Japanese, so Lexus or Infiniti for cars akin to those you mention.

Do you do a lot of miles? Generally I think petrol engines are more reliable in this period, but obviously cost a little more to fuel.

So I'd be thinking the Infiniti, or perhaps a Lexus IS.

IF you want a Merc, Audi or Jag I'd try and find a well rated specialist nearby who can look after it, the right indie can make a slightly flaky car a much less painful ownership experience.

Hi Samoht,

Thanks for your reply.

i would say annually I'm doing around 9k to 12k miles.

I totally agree with you about finding a good specialist, but thats the hard part for me as most of the people who are near my area where i live are asking for really overpriced labour, and I'm ending up with a broken car at the end of the day because they dont know what they are doing.

I had a Honda civic 1.7 diesiel very nice car long ownership more than 6 years engine miles 450k+ always was going to authorised honda service centre but since i moved in a diffrent city went to a diffrent place just to do basic service job and they added more engine oil than needed i didnt check after the job was done i was thinking that it would be burn byitself and drove like this for a year eventually engine was not burning or eating oil at all and i ended up with a blown head gasket oil started mixing up with coolant.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will definitely have a look.

The Infiniti is a very good pick either M30d/Q70/50

What's your budget?

Of your preferences, the Audi A5 3.0 V6 or a 3.0 Jaguar XE / XF would be my favourites. In the Jaguar make sure it’s a 2015 onwards model as the dynamics of the previous generations are not the best.

The E-Klass Mercs from 2013-2016 (the facelifted models) , including the CLS (2014 onwards) have excellent build quality, especially the higher spec models.
A nice CLS shooting break may also have some potential to not lose a lot of money.

I had a bad experience with an Infinity, spare parts were hard to get and very expensive (in Switzerland). Engine was great but I would not have another.

BMW's with the B58-ZF 8 speed drivetrain seem to be well made.
