C4 Cactus part 2
Discussion
General consensus of opinion is that the diesel ones of these would not suit the short journeys i tend to do and i agree but what about the 1.2 petrol version.
I have seen a few of these advertised but couple of things concern me.I have seen 2 horsepower figures for these 81 and 108 which if any is correct.
Also from the engine shots i have seen they seem to be a 3 cylinder engine plus can anyone tell me if this is a wet or dry belt engine.

Plenty of info here, I had the 80hp engine. Others are turbo charged I think. Wet belts but don't know reliability of them.

Non turbo is super economical but slow, imagine if you had a turbo version would still get good economy and be much more usable.

As above, it's a crap engine. Good MPG though.
Very good MPG on the 1.2 N/A lump. We had brand new Cactus 1.2 on a lease for 18 months and it gave us 45mpg round town, no matter how we treated it. (Mostly hard start / stop) urban use. On a motorway run it was nudging 60mpg. Spritely too.MattyD803 said:

I checked the wife's long term average MPG on the computer and it was showing 50 something MPG. Pretty good considering it does a lot of short journeys. However it does use about as much oil as it does petrol.budgie smuggler said:

How old is it, what mileage and how much is it using? Isn't this a warning sign that things are not all well in Puretech land and it could die at any point?ThingsBehindTheSun said:

I think it's an 17 plate, 50K miles. I don't have my notebook to hand but I think it's using about a litre every 800 miles or something.
Yes it's dying, I've been trying to get her to get rid for probably 3 years now! When it does go bang and leave her stranded in god-knows-where, it will of course be my problem to sort
