Hi everyone

I'm currently on the hunt for something to do the bulk of the family taxiing and could do with some ideas. Budget is 10-12k
Requirements:
Dog friendly boot
Space for 4 and luggage
Petrol (it will do a bunch of short trips as well as long trips away)
Can occasionally tow a caravan (~1500kg)

The main car is a Jag XFS Sportbrake at the moment, so comparably comfortable and good to drive would be a real bonus. (Although ideally without the constant fear of what's next to break).

Possible contenders include:
VW Passat GTE estate
VW Tiguan 2.0TFSI
Audi Q5 2.0TFSI
A4 Avant
Smax 2.0T

Any thoughts/experience with those would be great to know about

Cheers!

Skoda superb estate ticks pretty much all your boxes.

Superb could be a good shout. Essentially a nicer Passat?

528i would definitely fit the bill. I'd kind of assumed they'd all have astronomical mileage.

Used to have a Mazda 6 Saloon. Great car but the lack of torque from the petrol end up being why it went.

Thanks for the suggestions

Don’t overlook the Volvo V90.
12k will buy you an awful lot of car and it’s been well reviewed against it competitors.

Any V90 at this price point will have big miles or be a CAT car.

Mondeo or Insignia ….. if you want comfort- or an E Class, the Skoda isn’t, it’s also boring. Personally I’d keep the Jag (I’ve got the Skoda at the minute) my Mondeo was a much better car - you want a proper auto box if towing - again I do.
