Hi,

I'm looking to replace my 2010 Astra but I'm struggling to find something that meets all my wants and whims so I'm seeking opinions on where you would go. I don't sell cars, I bury them, so I intend to keep this car for at least 10 years. This will be my last petrol car, but it seems a non-charging hybrid could be a possibility to run as a petrol. I have fallen down the SUV rabbit hole, but having elderly parents I think the slight ride height would help them. Budget is up to £24k so looking at max 3 years old.

Must haves
Auto
Petrol
Heated windscreen
Digital speedo
Towing capability
Spare wheel

Should haves
Slightly smaller if poss
Larger boot
Orange wink
Reversing camera
Sat nav
Nice dashboard where the screen doesn't look like a last minute add on

Could haves
Same size
Red, green, yellow or Blue

I really like the Vauxhall dashboard but the upholstery seems to be part leather/pleather which I don't like. It seems every car has a compromise on something and I'm struggling to play Top Trumps. My current short list is Skoda Kamiq/Karoq or Ford Puma but all ideas welcome.

TIA

Lexus UX?
Hyundai Kona?
Kia Niro?
Volvo XC40?
Mazda CX30?
Renault Arkana?
MINI Countryman?

All available as hybrid, within budget, age criteria and in an actual non-monochrome colour..

I'd personally have any of the above over a VAG equivalent.

How about an EV? jester

Am I getting this right ?
Haha, definitely not. wink I want a car that goes further than the end of the road so want my last petrol before I'm forced to buy an EV.

Thanks but the Corolla is not an SUV and the Yaris is definitely too small. PS. the Yaris Cross looks better but no heated windscreen in Toyotas.

Thanks but only Volvo and Mini do heated windscreen. The mini is a definite no and Volvo is out of my price range. I don't *want* a hybrid, I want my last petrol before being forced into an EV, I'm only considering hybrid for the Frontera.

Thank you. I do like the MG ZS and the Capture but they don't have a heated windscreen. Also a couple of these are too big. As parking spaces get smaller I really want the car to get a bit smaller but will go with the same size if needs be.

I think it looks cool, not sure on reliability.
Yeah it does look cool, nice colour. But, no heated windscreen and too small, no legroom for the folks to sit in the back. I wouldn't buy a Fiesta and I'm already struggling with the idea of Puma as it's based on Fiesta, but Ford-wise the Kuga is too big. frown

Op, to be honest I moved from astra J to Astra L estate. The birds eye camera meant I can park in the same size spots easily. Very good car.

If you got kids in the car I an not a fan of small cars due to safety.

Therefore, something like the frontera or grandland might be fine to park. But test first

They have a heated element on the bottom so they’re actually half way there.
