Bought a used car and noticed it has wrong mileage
Discussion
Hi guys im a beginner at buying cars si apologies for any dumb questions etc
Just signed for a 2022 ev at 22k miles, advert and contract paperwork all match this figure . However the car has 27k miles on it , is this worth a complaint and what's a good outcome?
I paid cash(bank loan) , haven't collected car yet as they said 2 days until ready
He stated it was serviced/checked over so I have requested the report incase it turns out the service was at 22k and they simply "checked over" it this time
And idiot question time.. service is due 10,20,30k fir manufacturer's warranty , if they did indeed service at 27k do I need another in 3 months or would I start working off every 10k from the 27k

Probably just a mistake by the dealer.
But...
If that car has been Hpi checked at 27k, and more recently 22k by the dealer, it'll show a mileage discrepancy on Hpi which will become a problem when you come to sell on.
So my advice is to get your dealer to assure you the car does not have a mileage discrepancy on Hpi.
If it has, get them to sort it, or find another.

That's £500. So if his quote proves that amount, and you can prove both mileages, then you could present him with the facts and say 'Excuse me, I've just spotted a mistake, please put things right'. If they're all facts and if he doesn't assist then I'd say you have a decent case for court.Ask for some money back, if they won't budge reject the car and ask for your money back. Milage on an EV affects the residuals way more than it does on a proper car.
RE the servicing, I expect it is stored electronically, so ask to see the service history printed out. Not much servicing to do on an EV.

Did you notice before you actually drove the car away from the dealership?
If so, what did they say at the time?
Or did you notice afterwards?
If afterwards then you have every right to get back on to them to ask for a price reduction, or even reject it as miss sold.
Is the dealer FCA regulated?
Sorry, just re read your opening post, you haven't collected the car yet..
Deffo ask for a reduction in price. The car isn't "as advertised"

I noticed the error after purchasing car but I have not yet collected it , it was when I was showing my kids a wee video of the car I was buying that I took just after test drive, honestly abit dumb of me not to realise but potentially not a huge deal If so, what did they say at the time?

Yes it was a main hyundai branch I got it from , will give them a bell when they open and ask them about it , will probably say its just a typo but will update

If they won't reduce the price you'll have to decide if it's still decent value to go ahead with.
If not, ask for your deposit back (hopefully you have a print of the advert showing 22,000miles)
I bet they'll just try to throw something in, like superguard, or something.

Its still on the main hyundai site so got the SS of the advert and then the listed the mileage on the contracts for me 2 sign etc so have all that info , I do think it likely is just human error tbh and he's copied the ad when filling in forms etc If they won't reduce the price you'll have to decide if it's still decent value to go ahead with.

If this is a Hyundai main dealer I'm sure they won't be trying to misrepresent the car. I'd ask two things:
1. Written confirmation that the hpi, dvla and dealer mileages are all corrected.
2. Some money off to reflect the true mileage.
For a main dealer this should be simple stuff.
However - if you're planning to keep the car for a long time and it is the one you want, just buy it.

Are Hyundai still doing the thing where they restart the 5yr warranty for used cars?If not, make sure it’s been serviced on time - it’s every 10K miles or 12 mths, whichever is first. If it did have a service at 27K then it doesn’t need another one until 37K or in 12 mths time. If it didn’t have a service at 27K then get the dealer to include it - especially in view of the mileage discrepancy.

They do yes however needs to be under 36months this 1s just outside it at 37 months so they just give remaning 2 year balance and they offer rac extended warranty in place of the manufacturer's If not, make sure it s been serviced on time - it s every 10K miles or 12 mths, whichever is first. They said will update the paper work and that's it because they already gave me £200 off the car when I was agreeing to buy it so they feel it's a good enough deal 1. Written confirmation that the hpi, dvla and dealer mileages are all corrected.
