Car Been Sitting Idle 22 Months
Discussion
I’ve ordered a car that was registered in January 2025. I queried the spec as I found out the sound system had been changed from Harman Kardon to a standard KIA system in 23 and this car had the HK.
The dealer called KIA who said the build date was 15/1/24. Is it any concern that the car has been sitting around for the best part of 2 years and has been passed to the trade by the KIA dealer who originally bought it from KIA in July this year?

If you get an epic discount to price it as a 2 year old used car, and everything works OK with OEM warranty, then all good. If they want full retail price, I'd walk away.
It’s certainly not priced as a 2 year old car but certainly a competitive price on a car registered in January 3rd this year. Not quite the same, but I bought a Motorhome earlier this year, first registered 2020.
It was made in 2017.
Obviously, the converters (Swift) bought a job lot of chassis cabs to convert.
The model I have was produced from 2016 to 2018, so mine had been standing for a year or so.
Did I know it was a 2017 vehicle? Yes, once I viewed it, it was obvious with date codes on the seats etc.
The interior fittings were from a late build though.
When I sell it, it will be advertised as a 2020, the buyer can do his/her own research.
There were only two, obviously the last ones, registered in 2020, none after.
