Im currently in the market for a 570s, I've had a play with the autotrader price tracker and found that a couple of cars that have been for sale for over a year (the blue spider is over 2 years).
Has anyone viewed either of the cars in question?
Surely there must come a point where it's best for the dealers to reduce the price further to move them on.
Or are there big underlying issues with the cars?

Cars like that will be on sale or return so it is not as if the dealer has money invested in it. The owner probably has about a dozen other cars all purchased for the intention of money-laundering rather than to actually drive and this is cost-free way to have them in warm storage with the possibility that someone might actually buy at the inflated value.

Not so sure about mention of ML but otherwise this.
Very few dealers if any at this price point and for this car would be using their own money to buy in stock.

Definitely SOR. Smallish independent dealers are often quite happy to have some nice expensive 'stock' sitting long term to make the place look nice, while having zero of their own cash sitting in it.

There's a Gallardo at Motorhub been for sale over ten years. Madness

If the garage owns the car, this can’t be a good business model. However, I know of a practice lower down the food chain ( not bangers, but everyday stock) where the dealer takes a non- seller off the market for three months or so, and then puts it back on the forecourt at a higher price! Another ploy is for dealers to move slow stock to a nearby friend’s site, where the car now appears as new stock.

They have some really nice stock but a shocking reputation. If they did a YouTube page it might bring some confidence to their showroom

Yeah, I’ve noticed those listings too; it’s surprising they’ve been sitting that long! Sometimes dealers hold firm on price, hoping for that one buyer, especially with cars like the 570S where stock is limited. But after a year or two, you do start to wonder if there’s something putting people off, maybe condition, spec, or history. Might be worth giving them a call to see what the story is, or even getting a pre-purchase inspection if you’re serious. It could work to your advantage if they’re finally ready to negotiate!

They have some really nice kit at motor hub. A lovely cls63 with rare oem alloys. Would love something like this but it’s been on sale for about 3 years

Must admit I find that business quite fascinating, they have £10M+ worth of Bugattis for sale, along side battered £1k Vauxhalls.

I stand corrected, it's over 12 years. It was listed on 4 October 2013 (the posted on date is hidden within the URL)

Some interesting replies regarding SOR practices!
I've sold 2 cars in the last 18months via SOR, one was an excellent experience and the other was far from it.

A 570s which I was considering viewing a couple of months ago but sold before I had chance has just popped back up for sale with the same dealer. I thought it was a bit unusual, after a bit of digging I found the attached review about the car. Both car-vertical and the DVLA dont recognise the reg so its seems the car definitely has a story (surprising as the dealer doesnt seem to have a bad rep)!

The search continues.....

Motorhub isn't a car dealer. That's just a front.
