Last week went into dealer and saw a car we liked.

Put a deposit down and chose some extras from the webpage for them to fit while sat with salesman.

Just had a call from dealer saying sorry they screwed up the extras should have been 15 quid more they will stand to that but they want 300 quid to fit….

This is for side protectors, mud flaps and a protective film on the boot lip.

Wadda you think ?

If you don't think the extras are worth £300, then don't buy them. It's down to you.

Or go down and lose it with the dealer and say you won't buy the car unless they honour the original deal. It's all up to you. Own the situation.

I'd say that's not what you were led to believe when you placed your deposit. Either they can honour the original deal or you'll have your deposit back.

If they refuse to honour the deal then go to another dealer and start again.

Thanks guys it’s for the Mrs I’m going to have to suck it up but I’m going to tell them it’s ruined the deal and I won’t be taking there for any servicing ….

Why not cancel the order, and order from another dealer?

Their cock up has then cost them their profit.

All easy to fit yourself and you get brownie points from the wife.

You know the profile of people here right? Ofcourse everyone would say no.

If you would have paid the £300 anyway and its not time consuming and cheaper for you to do yourself - just agree to it. Dont say no out of principle, everyone makes mistakes.

If you/your missus don't like the car that much anyhow - just say no. Easy way out

I would point to that and at least try to get a reduction in cost. The 300 fitting is probably less to them.

having said that, I would not walk away from a car I like over 300 extra cost (at least assuming the 300 is a small percentage of purchase price).

Maybe try "I will pay the fitting cost, but to be clear, I am of the opinion this was not agreed and as a show of good faith, I would like to get a discount on the hourly rate for the next service". I guess it depends on how much hassle it is to go to a different dealer for service, repairs etc. Usually the supplying dealer will be a little more accommodating on work required etc.
