It'll be time to change cars soon...I have three teenage boys and want an estate car (NOT AN SUV OR PEOPLE CARRIER) that fits them all across the back. I live in London so needs to be Euro 6. Electric or petrol, no diesel. I have ideas but keen to tap the hive mind!

I currently have a 2016 Golf R estate and LOVE it. Spacious, fast, noisy, easy. FUN. But it's getting a touch small for the three teenagers. Their heights are 6', 5' 8", 5' 7".

None of them are particularly comfortable for three people along the back, unfortunately.

Back of an E-class estate is fairly spacious. Skoda Superb?

None of them are going to be remotely comfortable for 3 adults side by side even if said adults don't qualify as large.

Sadly very little is comfortable 3 up on a single row. 5 touring or a Superb will do it but for long journeys an extra row is the answer.

Double crew cab van might be a bit wider.

ChatGPT says 3 widest seats are Skoda Superb, VW Passat, Merc E Class and BMW 5 Touring.

It also says the same has been said if you want a modicum of comfort for 3 people in the back and that's buy an SUV or people carrier.

ID Buzz maybe?

Just get an Smax. 3 equal width seats and loads of leg room.

May I be the first to suggest adoption as a more PH solution?

Surely this is the answer. Huge amount of rear seat legroom compared to an E Class. Presumably loads more than a 5 Series too.

I've had

2023 Volvo V90 - middle rear seat is rock hard, too high and narrow if adult sized passengers are either side.
2023 Volvo V60 - as above but even narrower.
2021 BMW G31 5 series - slightly wider than V90 but still rock hard and too high.
2024 BMW 4 series GC - too small for even a large child.
2018 MB E class - doesn't have the height problem but still too hard and 3 adults are squeezed at the shoulders.

Never had a Skoda Superb so don't know about that.

I was a passenger in the back of a newish Superb estate recently, can't say I rated it much. While there was plenty of legroom, the actual seats weren't that comfortable and it was unfortunately a fairly dreary place to sit.

They'd been on my shortlist as a potential next car, but after that journey I've discontinued the idea of a Skoda.

The Bentley is on the same platform as the Superb, plenty quick enough & it's got comfier seats I assume.
