Id7 gtx plus tourer Vs i5 msport pro touring
Discussion
Hi all,
I am all but ready to FTK on the id7. However, a good deal on the i5 is giving me second thoughts. Does anyone have any real world experience with both?
Man maths makes the i5 the better deal in terms of lease cost % Vs P11d. However, the BIK will be more costly over the 3 years.
From what I have read, the id7 is a cracking family weapon, but would the 'upgrade' to BMW be worth a few extra quid?
As always, many thanks in advance.

Hi
Having test driven the I5 as the initial choice & rejecting it, I'm now 3 months into having an ID7 GTX tourer so my take's as follows. I rejected the I5 as it just felt claustrophobic both for me (plus I disliked the super fat steering wheel) & my wife immediately hated sitting in it, however if that's not an issue I'd say it's a class above in terms of refinement.
The ID7 is plenty fast enough, in fact I'd be tempted to say have a look at the model below (Pro S Match) as the range is better & it's not much slower, but no 4 wheel drive, range seems to be @ 300 miles even in the cold / reasonable levels of motorway driving. Space is huge especially if you need to carry 4 adults, boot is great size too if a touch narrow. The suspension can be a bit flat footed dealing with pot holes, rough surfaces despite DCC.
The infotainment is fine provided you're fine with most things being screen driven, the most irritating control is actually the left column which controls wipers, headlights & indicators but isn't lit so very much need to get used to it, plus the slightly random locations for other functions & how they work can be confusing. The seats are great including the massage function which I'm surprised at using as much as i have.
The final thing that only came to light on doing a 2 hour journey last week was my dog absolutely hated being in it, don't know whether it's the way the car rides, goes or if there's a high pitched noise we're just not aware of, so if you have a dog check for that.
Overall, happy with my choice, even if everyone calls it the ocean liner as it is a big long car.

I looked at an i5 m60 when I got my id7 tourer gtx. Ultimately I couldn't bring myself to pay the extra when even things like a power tailgate were an option.
So far I dont regret my decision. I miss a couple of elements from the model y I had, and the lack of walk away locking and gesture boot in uk cars is annoying. But so far its a much better car then the model y.
My dog hates all cars but is no worse in the id7 then anything else.
