Looking at one of these with the golf r drivetrain. Seems to have sold pretty poorly so not much online about it. I presume from a reliability perspective it is the usual golf R common issues (coolant, water pump, DSG service). Anything else to be aware of?

Thanks

I had a cooking version but it was ace.

Pretty rare, looked great, decent spec.

Been looking at these myself recently. By all accounts they are pretty solid cars, as long as they have followed the service schedule they should be good. They are approaching the age where a DSG flush is worth it, some cars have had failures of the adaptive dampers but i've seen more reports on the USA forums for that issue.

These have been on my radar on more than one occasion over recent years but incredibly rare as has been noted.
I was looking for a estate/wagon/shooting brake whatever you want to call it and fussy as to colour and options, alas nothing remotely close to what I wanted became available so £ went elsewhere.

I'd imagine a very small audience if/when you decide to offload from a selling point of view which may impact negatively on the £.

I'm not sure if the same can be said of the saloon/hatch but when I was curious enough to watch a Matt Watson review of the estate a while ago, the one thing I've remembered from it is that the rear windows cannot open much due general design.

I had the 'cooking' version as a lease for a couple of years, although it had loads of great options, heated seats / carplay / adaptive cruise etc.
It was a pleasure to own and drive, although obviously new at the time, it never missed a beat.

Great cars, always admire them when I see them out & about, because they are 'lesser seen' than other more ubiquitous VW products.

It was also massive inside! and the boot (mine was a hatchback) being based on the A6 platform.

You’ll find more info if you look at that generation of Passat, but yes it’s the same engine and box and halidex in the golf R, Tiguan R, S3, cupras etc the ea888 is pretty reliable

If you like the Arteon take a good look at the Kia Stinger.
