Currently looking to make the swap from ICE to EV, I've got a Fiesta ST right now that will be worth around 17k, no outstanding finance

I've not yet test drove the BYD but the Kia EV6 GT was a nice place to be, and a hell of a lot of car for 30k when it still has 4-5 years warranty left

Both are probably going to be similar financially, the BYD is circa 14-15k for 3 years to lease, I figured the Kia will likely lose close to that in the next three years, but the depreciation could level out

I'm not too worried about the ICCU issues, so I'm discounting that part - I guess at the moment my heart says the Kia for the styling, but from a performance and range perspective the BYD seems the right answer

I will almost never (maybe once or twice a year) drive far enough to warrant charging away from home, and on those occasions I'd be fine to stop anyway.

I feel like financially the Kia makes the most sense, but the lease doesn't seem crazy either - I think the other part of the Kia that I like is it's a bit more uncommon than BYD and Tesla etc

Reading this back it seems like the Kia is the one I want, so maybe you guys can potentially change my mind

If you had asked 2 months ago I would have said EV6 no contest. I have had mine for 2 years, not a GT though. I loved it, but recently its exposed some ste quality issues. The DRL LED Strip on the rear has half the LEDs not working any more. The 12v battery caked its pants and left me stranded a couple of times (note this was not an ICCU issue, it still charges its just the factory battery is a piece of st. Ive had the ICCU recall work done), the app randomly doesn't work. The premium stereo isnt good, even after the Reddit wiring mod. Some of the driving assists are crap. The lane one wanged me into a curb. HDA is fine if the motorway is largely empty but busy its st and wont change lanes well. If someone moves into your path it sts the bed. The collision avoidance system randomly thinks you're going to hit a parked car and has a hissy fit. Its like having a back seat driver.

Its a great car, but it doesnt come with a 7 year warranty because its built well. Its an accounting/marketing tool to make you think you are getting a quality car when corners have been cut all over.

On the positive side. Its a lovely car to drive, it has all the toys, even heated rear seats which amazes people. It looks fking cool. I have one in black with the GT Line styling, it looks like a Batmobile, my comic mad daughter agrees. Ive had far more comments along the lines of "nice car" from people than I did from when I had an Audi S6.

Mine is the lowest power and it feels really fast, fk knows how much fun the GT must be.

No experience of BYD Seal so could say if thats better or not
