I am looking to buy a special car this year for my 50th, I have a RSq3 for most daily duties however I would like a 'driving event' car for circa 3-4k miles a year and not just summer Sunday's.

At the moment the two that interest me most are:

DB11: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202601299...

Conti: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202601089...

I am not worried about mpg and assume both are similar to maintain and neither has a common bork factor I need to be overly concerned about?

I'd go for the DB11 it feels special & that engine is special.

The Bentley is a lovely place to be but the Aston imo is the pick.

I think that the first edition Conti GT is very striking indeed. Nevertheless, the DB11 is special if not marmite in styling (not to me!) and they're both excellent choices.

Both cracking cars and definitely a question of test driving and see which suits your style.

The DB11 I expect would be a sportier GT than the Conti, rarer and more exotic looking, and was the first car to receive AM's 5.2L twin turbo V12.

The Conti is an older car than the DB11 (from 2012 I think), and is a TT V8 (a nice engine-I have it in my car, but not super-dramatic sounding). Interior will be superior to the DB11 and has usable rear seats for adults.

Overall I'd go for the DB11 which are looking good value, unless I really needed the rear seats, in which case I may save a few quid and get a GranTurismo!

Thank you for all the replies.

The Bentley is a beefy boy and 1/2 tonne heavier compared to the big boned db11!

I have gone down the A.M wormhole and started looking at gen 2 Vanq and DB9...

I do like the Conti, but it doesn't look that different to an early one you can pick up for £10k.

That DB11 however cloud9

I can't believe you can get that much car for just over £50k!

Sadly I've driven neither, but do love both.
That said I do think the Aston appears a bit more exciting so if "special" is the word then it gets my vote. Certainly it has the presence and I imagine feels special each time you step into one.

If "daily luxury" was the objective then I think the Bentley, but in that case I'd go for the 2018 refresh because it's astonishingly beautiful and gorgeous inside.

The 2018 one is a totally new model as opposed to a refresh. Very nice but a fair bit pricier.

Sorry, you are right it is in fact a complete new model. Yes the price point is definitely there. But perhaps that makes the decision all that much easier and more compelling towards the DB11 in this case?
