Hi
I was at Bolesworth yesterday, for Hampsons auctions and it was crazy how cheap the no reserve cars were going for
Did anyone sell a car and were happy?
Seen a couple of reviews for an Audi R8 going for £61,000 when the seller wanted £87,000
This was a poor man who was selling his dream car to help his business

Another was a Jeep that sold for £29,500, way under value

I guess it is great if you are a buyer!

I couldn't bid unfortunately as was blocked, due to being a member of Victims of Hampsons Auctions Facebook Group!

I couldn't register a card with my online account with them to bid, kept getting a 3d car error. I contacted them through the message page, and by email a week ago. Nobody bothered to answer.

Bear in mind the minimum commission charge was £600 + VAT (i.e. £720). It makes low value cars go for even less. Why all the sellers agree to this I don't know because there's a fee off the hammer price for them too! On Trustpilot, you'll see reviews of them which put me off going, several of the sellers may not have been aware they were going no reserve. frown

These pop up ones are a pain because you have to collect on the day or before lunchtime the next day to avoid uplift and storage charges.

Looking at the Trustpilot Reviews they cold call sellers on Autotrader and persuade them to sell through their auction with fees and reserves being prohibited. Seems that most stuff sells for around 1/3 below their estimates, so it seems estimates are set to draw in the greedy and gullible.

Cold calling Autotrader customers is something from the 90's! biggrin
