BMW X5 30d vs Range Rover Sport (2019+) which would you ch
Discussion
I’m currently looking at buying a used SUV and have narrowed it down to either a BMW X5 30d or a Range Rover Sport, most likely a D300 or SDV6.
Budget is around £40k, and I’m looking at 2019 onwards cars with sensible mileage.
It will mainly be used as a family car, with a mix of motorway and city driving, so comfort, reliability and running costs are important.
For those who have owned or driven both:
• Which would you choose and why?
• How do they compare in terms of reliability and running costs?
• Is there a particular engine or spec I should prioritise or avoid?
The Range Rover Sport appeals more for looks and interior, but the X5 seems to have the better reputation for reliability, so I’m a bit torn.
Would appreciate any real-world ownership experiences.
Thanks.

The X5 is a little more reliable but both have the capacity to throw a big bill.
The RRS in 4.4d spec would get the nod from me:

but not before I'd test driven a Cayenne especially in 4.2d form:

GV80, superb cars & a very nice place to be, they'll do everything you need have a chunk of warranty left too. I'd recommend a test drive.

ive been looking at a RRS 71 reg with the Hybrid engine, with manufacturer approved warranty for 2 years thru autotrader and you can get some nice stunners for around £32 to £38k knowing they have peace of mind.
They are the previous shape but if you want a current one then £60k onwards, hopefully they drop in september but i cant see them dropping 20K
BMW would just be an option if i cant get a RRS but that my sentiment , i hope you find the right one and post a pic if you do

What 3.0D engine do they use? is it their own or shared with/borrowed from another manufacturer?GV80, superb cars & a very nice place to be, they'll do everything you need have a chunk of warranty left too. I'd recommend a test drive.
