Quick question on V5
Discussion
Hi All,
After 3 months my E Class is finally fixed so it can go on Motorway.
Unfortunately (and should have done this sooner) had forgotten the dealer who sold me the car misspelt my surname so its wrong on the V5. From Googling it seems like it might take 4-6 weeks for a corrected one from the DVLA? If that’s right thats a long time and really need the car sold as I need the funds from the sale.
Just wanted to know if anyone knows if this is a major issue being sold with the wrong spelling of my surname on the V5? The car has no finance against it and am the third owner of the car. A Reddit thread says the buying dealer are unlikely to be bothered but cant treat that as gospel!
Anyone who has any experience of this scenario would be hugely appreciated as really need the car sold ASAP if possible!

Had it myself in the past, postal turnaround took less than two weeks. Can t comment on anything else.
Mine took under 2 weeks too. The seller of a car presumed my email address was my name, but the surname wasn't in it.
It doesn't add a keeper, I sent an accompanying letter with the amended V5c.Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
