Hello,

Seen a 2024 Focus - should this have a timing chain instead of a wet belt and should reliability be better?

Should I still stay clear of anything eco boost do you think?

Thanks

Is this the 48v mild hybrid engine? I believe that all these have a timing chain but a wet belt for the oil pump.

If you can post the registration plate this can help people advise on exactly what engine is in it.

My ecoboost ( wet belt ) is now at 85,000 , no issues with it , runs like the day I got it at 40,000 , just change oil / filter at 8,000 miles as I do and I believe you’ll be fine

They have changed the composition of the lower wet belt, they seem to be lasting a lot better. I’d just get it bought if you want one, every single post you see on a video it’s got some crashing bore on it going ‘Ecoboom’ off the back of something they’re just repeating. To replace the belt on the older ones it’s not even that dear now, well under a grand. But you tell people this and it’s like they’ve gone in a fking loop and they can’t understand what you’ve just said when they come back with ‘It’s (insert made up six figure number) at the Ford Garage’
