New or nearly new- Electric Mid Size hatch
Discussion
Anyone spotted a deal on an EV midsize hatch back?
We are expecting our first and my E5008 goes back a month before it's due typically.
My partner will only drive smaller cars - We are going to drop to one car for a bit so need a car we can both drive but is bigger than my partner's current Seat Ibiza.
-We want an EV with at least 60kwh
-She doesn't like SUV or SUV shaped cars
-Child gear friendly
-Heated seats / wheel
Prefer lease but PCP also considered. If PCP and warranted we will definitely keep after.
Currently seen:
-Facelift MG4 EV Premium Long Range (£289 x49 PCP 0%)
(Looking like the most sensible option price wise 7yr warranty )
-Vauxhall Astra Ultimate EV (£3500 + £299x48 PCP 0%) via blue light discount
(We both prefer the Astra looks wise and servicing every 2 years offsets the price difference a touch - 8 year warranty if serviced at Peugeot)
Cupra born was ruled out as she wasn't a fan of the look/bronze bits mainly.
The Astra EV a few years old is half price nearly but I don't think the Stellantis 8 year warranty applies unless nearly new.
Any ideas welcomed.

That Astra deal is awful. Avoid anything Stellantis.
Why doesn't she like SUV shape? Many SUVs are more spacious, eg the Renault 4 is bigger in the back and more spacious than the R5.

The new mg4 is actually pretty decent, so that PCP offer might be worth a look

Stelantis products are no better or worse than most cars out there.
The Megane E Tech are very good value used & aren't too big:

Cheers! I really like the Mégane but warranty concerns me.
The MG warranty has a lot of exclusions after 3 years so new I think is my preference. We would plan to keep it afterwards mind. Servicing had to be done every year on it is a downside and the warranty will be worthless on a used one if done late for instance whilst sat for sale which is going to be a minefield searching.
The Astra deal I agree is crap really. I have no issues with Stellantis though, I'm spoiled with a Peugeot E5008 I paid just £259 x12 for and I'm very happy with it. So much so I might buy a nearly new E3008 in the near future if we do have 2 cars.
I think a used Stellantis has to be a 74/25 plate for the warranty extension.
I can't really think of any other contenders other than the essentially Astra Peugeot E308 which we both also like.
Shame there doesn't seem to be any lease deals or attractive PCP on these like the larger cars each brand sells.
As for SUV I don't know why , she isn't fussy at all but that's one thing she doesn't want as she has only ever had small cars (Ibiza, 206, Corsa etc). Mine is gargantuan so she hasn't driven that.

I'm nearly 2 years into my cheap MG4 lease and I've been really impressed with it, especially at the price point. The boot isn't the biggest but it's been practical enough to cart the family around, it's been completely reliable (don't believe the horror stories - the later ones are miles better than the early ones) and MG seem to have stumbled across a genuinely great little car to drive. RWD, punchy performance, I love driving it.
My Dad has the Niro and very similar in terms of size / practicality, the interior is higher quality but it's not as good to drive as the MG4.

Good to know the facelift has a nicer interior too haven't examined the exterior changes. Hopefully improved infotainment as that seems to be the thing I see talked about most in terms of pain points. I walk to work and she will be on maternity for a year I e. We will have less independent time and need for th flexibility of two cars for a year. So the MG I think is a good middle ground of what I like and what she wants.
Nothing is being the 289pm either at the moment without a big deposit. Plus the option of buying it at the end isn't too unreasonable as it's 0% .

If Mrs OP doesn't like the bronzy bits on a Cupra Born, why not try the VW ID3?
To be honest I'm not keen on the ID range in general - I only know two people that have had one. One had a refund on a brand new ID5 due to complete failure within a week, then the second one ended up in VW for 9 months of 3 year ownership. My brother had an ID3 approved used which had battery failure also with a huge lead time to fix so he too got a refund. That and the looks aren't for me (not that the MG is a looker !)joropug said:
