Kia C'eed Diesel Auto problem...
Discussion
Maybe one for ZX here, seem to remember he advises on Kia quite pften. my dad has just bought a new car and wants to give me his C'eed which has been a brilliant car. From memory it is about a 2016, a diesel turbo, lowish miles, maybe 60k or so and an auto. He tells me that sometimes it won't change up to top gear (7th), but when he stops and restarts, problem disappears. This happens rarely but if it happened at all when I was driving it I know it would drive me bonkers. I'll get someone to read codes and see if it is an easy fix, but think I'm right in saying these boxes are known for a few issues? He doesn't care what I do with it so perhaps WBAC would be easiest bet, sell my own car and buy something a bit nicer...advice greatly appreciated.

They had an issue with overheating & in some cases excessive wear, get the car read & go from there.
Personally if it's not a car you want then yes put it on Motorway & sell it as well as your current car then go & buy the car you want.
Thanks ZedX. I dearly love the car I have but I have taken it from 40k to 150k so its pretty much worth buttons. I have no idea what I'd replace it with. Personally if it's not a car you want then yes put it on Motorway & sell it as well as your current car then go & buy the car you want.
Spoke to Dad today. The issue is on two or three occasions the car has not changed into top when he thinks it should have, and once it did not change down when coming to a halt. Switching on and off cleared the issue on those occasions but I'm under no illusions that this will always be the case. Think I'll get it home and have codes read. He was offered 5k by WBAC and it is a nice spec car, auto, cruise, all the toys...but possibly an expensive bill waiting to happen..

See how it is on the drive home.
Will give my tame mechanic a buzz next week. If its something simple I'll fix and sell, if its a potential headache, WBAC. I'd rather keep my rattly old mini and whatever I get for Kia can go in savings for the day it shuffles off its mortal coil...Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
