Which van to buy?
Discussion
We need a cheap van as a run around for our business and have narrowed it down to two models which are for sale locally.
First up being a 2016 Connect 1.6 115ps which is well specced, good condition and is black externally which is an advantage as its less commercial looking.
Next up is a 2016 Peugeot Partner professional 1.5 100ps, not as nice looking but the interior being more modern makes up for it.
Both have covered approx 100k miles but FSH and cambelts and the usual maintenance done on both.
I dont know the first thing about vans so hoping some members can help and share some info.

Both decent to be fair.
I’d probably lean Connect. Bit more poke and tends to feel more car like. Generally tough if it’s been looked after.
Partner is fine as well and nicer inside, just a bit less go when loaded.
At 100k it’s all about condition though. Clutch, suspension, how it’s been used and history.
If one’s clearly been better cared for, take that. If they’re equal I’d edge the Connect.

I owned a 2016 Partner professional 7 or so years ago for 3 years of daily abuse. Being a professional it will have 3 seats up front and a tom tom sat nav on the A pillar. As small vans go it s up there and the amount on the roads shows that, I think it went on until 2018 before being replaced with the newer model.First up being a 2016 Connect 1.6 115ps which is well specced, good condition and is black externally which is an advantage as its less commercial looking.

Solid vans but I had quite a bit of adblue and Pat fluid trouble, the latter the pump seized but you have to have a complete new tank fitted, you should get 70k before the Pat fluid needs refilling but it s not as easy as adblue snd requires ramps to get under and remove the tank.
100k on a 10 year old van is nothing, these can tramp on to 200k easily. I ve just done a mot check on mine and in august last year at last mot it was on 172k miles. Good vans and seats drop to get longer loads in, I removed the passenger side cargo frame completely in mine. Only reason I moved on was van wasn t big enough load area.
I d go Stellantis over Ford every day with commercials.
I ve owned commercials since the 1990 s so had enough over the years. Partner Pto for me out of those 2.
ETA. The Pat fluid problem isn’t like adblue, in that the light comes on the dash but you don’t get the no start in XXX miles, the stuff sprays in the exhaust after you’ve filled up I was told, if you brim the tank and run it to a quarter or less then refill you shouldn’t go through the tank of fluid as quickly, it’s awful stuff and you need an autel or similar obd reader to clear the codes, it was introduced before adblue came along and they kept it on their engines. That was my only gripe with it.

Deal with vans through work and own 4. 21 plate black limited connect has been really good tbh.
Ford over stellantis every time, even with their issues.
2 in the yard now awaiting engines, Citroen and Peugeot, 16 and 67 plates.
One custom too, but that was self inflicted lol.
Forever recovering, buying, and fixing broken vans, usually Stellantis more than Ford,
Ad blue delete is always an option.

Just lease one and avoid the diesel cost and maintenance issues with old stuff.

I am connected with a business who moved to Ford Connect(s) sometime ago and have been impressed with them as a whole - especially reliability. That said, their vans are not worked hard and cover very long distances on a daily basis - they are de-fleeting at 350k / 400k miles with no frightening issues other than consumables.
