Looking at a weekend toy car.

Car is a 2013, but the 1st MOT does not show up until 2022.

Car is UK spec and not an import.

Suspecting car had a private reg from new to 2021

Ideas?

Ive checked this before on a car i used to own that had my private plate on it for a number of years.

Checking with the original plate (which the car now has back on it) shows all the old MOTs details when it had the private plate on.

So its not that.

Could it have been in NI? I seem to remember that had some impact on documentation

MOT follows the VIN not the registration number. You can change the latter as often as you like but history will still be there.

I think this is the most likely.

For me a sheaf of invoices is top of the wants list.. and early MOTs aren’t as useful as the latest few years worth.
MOT always follows the car irrespective of the numberplate in my experience so yeah I’d also guess the car was in Ireland early on in its life.

A lot of 'toy' cars and bikes can spend a lot of time SORNed.

A mate of mine has a couple of nice cars which haven't moved for a few years now, he keeps getting work abroad.
If you look at HML, you can find quite a lot of fairly new cars SORN.

It's also possible that the records online are wrong.

According to gov.uk NI MOT history should be available from 2017 if that's where it had been.

The last 4 recent years would seem more important than what happened 10+ years ago - I'm not sure I would be worried.

It can be a useful mileage cross check.

Isle of Man car? They are full UK spec cars but we dont have MOT’s over here. Very common for cars to move backwards and forwards between the Island and the mainland. Once on the ‘big island” they need an MOT if they are reregistered there. I have bought and sold loads over the years.

I was thinking maybe a track car, but IoM is kind of the same thing!

It is similar with some other Islands including Scilly I think.
But it's hard to get beyond second gear there.
