RS6 Replacement
Discussion
2016 RS6 bought for occasional family use and a weekend football wagon.
Kids signed for a new team about an hours drive further, so got 3 visits a week of around 60 miles per trip, mostly motorway, provided no traffic problems.
Wife fancies an L494 RRS, but we had one for 4 years, so would only try an SVR, but fuel would kill that.
What can I try that will be fun, big and comfortable, max of around £40k.
Do like Land Rover products, despite their issues, but fancy something that’s a bit of an event.

I'd say BMW M5 F90 - 2018ish for that budget.
Had one for a couple of years and it was the best all round daily car I've had. Took it from 22k up to 48k and it was perfectly reliable. 4.4 V8 BiTurbo, ~650bhp, 4WD with RWD mode, very nice cabin and well specced as standard. Dynamically they're a step above the RS6, even the current generation. A little quicker as standard too.
I'm looking to get into another almost exactly the same as the one I had previously, never felt the need to do that with any other car...
18 and some early 19 plate cars are pre-OPF filter so still sound decent (not quite as good as your RS) and will be coming onto the standard road tax rate if they haven't already - so no more 'Luxury Car Tax' supplement.
Decent on fuel on a run too, mine would easily do 32mpg at an 80mph cruise. Mid 30s through 50 and 60mph sections.
Only real issue they have is the coolant header tank splitting and leaking coolant, but most of them went early on and dealers replaced them. There's aftermarket options to replace it if that's a concern.

I could squeeze out 30mpg on a motorway run in my F-Pace SVR. Not quite as big as the RR big brother but space was never an issue for us. It’s a lot more fun than the RRS SVR, but obviously not as wafty. It was also cracking fun on a blast and was basically a massive oversized hot hatch with rear biased drivetrain. Brilliant cars and with winter tyres was unstoppable.
Of course, the answer here really is two cars. Hacking down a motorway with a massive performance V8 is a waste. But I’ve been in the position where one car is the only (compromised) option so I do understand.

The answer is probably SVR - I really do want to own an F Pace at some point, they re utterly epic.
A very off the wall suggestion : the tidiest Tesla Model S or X P100D you can get. Silly performance, buttons to run, silly doors on the X is a bonus. Shoot me
You must be ChatGPT, it keeps coming back to SVR.A very off the wall suggestion : the tidiest Tesla Model S or X P100D you can get. Silly performance, buttons to run, silly doors on the X is a bonus. Shoot me

I have a Model 3 Performance, and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat so already covered for various elements of enjoyment. I’m clearly just greedy!

My wife’s said no to the Jag already, as much as I’d have one for the stealthiness.

Might be a bit to close to your RS6 in terms of changing to something but the S6 tdi is a great car & will do everything you (good turn of pace nice place to be & good on fuel) want, or it'll make you miss the RS6:
