WBAC damage deductions
Discussion
Elderly neighbour is going to give up driving. The car, a 2012 Yaris auto, might be of use to one of my offspring. I nearly fell off my chair when the initial WBAC valuation was over £5.5k. The complication is that every panel is dinged, and the front and rear bumpers are held together with gaffer tape. Internally its OK.
I don't want to start a conversation about buying it if I might not be able to follow through, and realistically I'd be looking for a £2k to £3k car. Does anyone have any idea how much WBAC is likely to knock off for a car which has lots of relatively light damage? MOT has advisories for both from suspension arms "corroded but not severely weakened" and three tyres "slightly damaged, cracked or perishing".

Just put it in wbac with all those items declared and you will know exactly. Sure, that would be the obvious thing to do. But as per my post I don't want to start a conversation that I can't follow through on, so spiriting it away to WBAC isn't an option.this is my username said:

"Start a conversation you can't follow through on" - all you'd be doing is looking at multiple valuations from WBAC for (for example) entering grade 3, grade 4 and grade 5 into the condition. You can unsubscribe from their emails if it annoys you. Its all automated online, you won't be called or texted (just emails you can unsubscribe from).this is my username said:

Looking at Autotrader the autos are £K's more than manuals. A manual in the condition you describe would probably be worth buttons.Do you particularly want an auto?

With hindsight I think I should have called the thread "Crikey - have you seen how much money a 2014 auto Yaris sells for?".
I was expecting something closer to shed money, it appears that is unlikely to be the case. Time to drop that idea and move on.
In the condition you are describing it’s a 2-3k car, but yes, all Toyotas hold their money especially well versus any other mainstream brand I was expecting something closer to shed money, it appears that is unlikely to be the case. Time to drop that idea and move on.

Ok, didn t get an option to put condition details in on the first pass through the WBAC website - I guess that comes later?
Once you get to the screen with you valuation on it there's also a box with "View all assumptions" click on this and and the next page will allow you to enter more details about condition, faults etc. This will then give a more accurate valuation.davidexige said:

Aha! Got it, thanks! Putting it in as "Grade 5" brings it down to £3.3k, a second Grade 5 to £997 ...., one Grade 5 and one Grade 4 £1,800 .... I could be here all day .....Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
