help & advice required for buying 1st car. 2012 Mini 1.6 D
Discussion
Hi all, I hope im posting in the correct forum. I sit my driving test next month and a friend at work has offered to sell me his girlfriends 2012 Mini cooper D 1.6. It has 92k on the clock and reg is MF12SWK as i Cant post a screenshot from the Gov.MOT site. Hes looking for £2.5k. He says the only issue is the outside thermometer sensor is broken. I dont know much about cars so I was hoping someone could give me some advice as to wether this car would be worth buying or if i should look elsewhere. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I genuinely would appreciate any helpful replies. thanks
The first question is - why is he selling his girlfriends car??. If you know nothing about cars you need to find someone local to you, family member/friend/work colleague etc who does know about cars and is willing to take a look at the car for you. Asking online will get you loads of answers but very few helpful as the people replying can't actually see the car.
Good luck with your test and buying your first car.

We bought a Cooper 1.6D from a Mini specialist early in the year for similar money, just had a new timing chain and clutch.
At that mileage I would be looking for one that had had that done fairly recently, unless its very high spec and / or totally immaculate its over-priced.
Cracking little car though, mid-range shove is impressive and regularly gets in to the mid 50's mpg without any effort
