£15-25k on a used premium EV
Discussion
traded in my M140i last week.
On the hunt for a used premium(ish) EV, without major common faults, as will be looking to run it without a warranty.
2021 BMW IX3 - seems great except its rwd, and blower motor can go wrong on these, as well as suspension. Seem overpriced compared to audi/merc.
2021 Audi ETRON - seems good value for money, but lower than average range?
2021 Mercedes EQC - test drove it, seemed a little dull, apparently has old battery?
2020 - Jaguar ipace - seems a good price, not sure on reliability
2021 - Model Y - not yet tested. heard it feels like a ford fiesta in terms of build quality, but has good reliability
anything I'm missing or any experience on the above? what would the pick of the bunch?
anything im missing?

I'd say there's a case for the Cupra Born. RWD, very good build quality, comfy sports seats. And pretty good looking by modern car standards!
I have done 22k on mine without issue.
Reviews tend to be positive about them.
I'd not call the Born 'premium'. It's effectively just a nicer looking ID3. I'd be looking at Teslas if I was the OP I have done 22k on mine without issue.

I had the same budget criteria as you OP and after test driving many EV's have gone with a Model 3 dual motor long range of 2021 vintage.
2 weeks and about 300 miles in and I'm super impressed (I'm an incredibly harsh critic!) so would 100% recommend.
Happy shopping!

Yep - I have exactly the same and it's up to 123K miles and it still looks and feels new 2 weeks and about 300 miles in and I'm super impressed (I'm an incredibly harsh critic!) so would 100% recommend.

EQA350? Parents have one, nice cabins feels rapid, heat pump standard (I think), range is decent vs battery size
Are i4s in price range? Q4 Etron? Volvo EX40? All feel premium.
I’ve had a few Kia’s EQA, Born, ID3, ID4. The Kia’s were great and functional but the German stuff still drives better and feel more premium overall if that’s your priority vs more standard kit and much more standard warranty / usually a bit more range.

Went with a friend to see a few EV's in early May. He had a budget of £10-12k. He had sold his MG5 as he didn't like the image.
First up were 3 different Tesla 3's. The build quality for a 5 year old car was not good. Two of them had the steering wheel leather coming off the top. I don't normally see that in 20 year old German cars.
Second was a Polestar. Inside was OK but quite basic. No leather and it seemed to have lived a hard life.
Finally, we went to see a Jag iPace. The build quality is one or two levels above a Tesla. The interior is solid and the steering wheel looks like it's hardly been used. No rattles or squeaks at all.
The iPace had 90k miles on it and came with a two year warranty. He went for it and purchased from a small independent dealer. Been around 6 weeks and he's happy with it so far and no issues. The iPace has been around long enough and no major changes in the car since it's launch, which makes it great value for money considering it was £60-70k car.
Of course the above is anecdotal, though the iPace felt really nicely put together.
Whatever you opt for if you can get an extended warranty to cover the battery then you should be good.

We've had a 2022 etron 55 for 14 months now. Zero issues, an official comprehensive warranty covering 15k+ miles is £40 a month for peace of mind, it's super refined and practical and hasn't dropped below 200 miles of range regardless of the time of year (currently 250)
Make sure it's been serviced on schedule and the coolant cannister has been replaced and there's not much to worry about.

What independent dealer gave 2 years warranty? Got a name?
It was a small dealer in Chelmsford. I think it was a special offer from the warranty company as he said he will check and then called and confirmed it was two years. Another Jag iPace when he was searching also had a two year warranty advertised on Autotrader. It has sold since then.
Here's a current one with three year warranty:

Another one with four year Jag battery warranty up to 100k miles:

The 8 year/100k battery warranty applies to pretty much all EV'S and only covers retained capacity.
The iX40 is also creeping into budget.

Another vote for the tesla, pretty each choice imo. It's a far better car than the audi and merc, and better than the BMW which is cramped inside for such a big car. Don't think it's a proper EV platform unlike the new ix3 which is much closer to the MY.
Sure, it's not as plush as a lexus, but is easily better than VW and Cupra inside.
Ipace is an alternative, I have quite a soft spot for them even though the MY outclasses it in every way other than ride comfort and interior. World would be boring if everyone just chose the best car, the roads are already flooded with teslas and bmws.

I've had a Model 3 Performance and now on our second etron. The Tesla was more efficient and faster, and that's it IME. I'd also challenge the idea it's a premium product as certainly didn't feel much like one in comparison.Sure, it's not as plush as a lexus, but is easily better than VW and Cupra inside.
