We currently have a Mk5 Mondeo hybrid and it’s a nice car, I like it.
However there is a problem of finance. We also have a crappy old Fusion as a dog/ dump car. The insurance on that is ridiculously high and with RFL and MOT etc we can no longer afford 2 cars.
The trouble is my wife won’t drive the Mondeo because she’s not comfortable on the North Devon lanes.
Can anyone suggest a slightly smaller estate, please?

Must be auto, petrol, fun. I’m thinking Golf TSi, or VAG equivalent (Skoda, Seat).
Any other ideas.

Thanks

Fun and vag don t go together, I went from a mk4 Mondeo to a 280 superb and the Mondeo is a far better car, other than interior space the Skoda is poor in comparison

Buy a 3 series, or if it s big enough a Mini clubman

I went from a Mk5 Mondeo estate to a Mk4 Focus estate petrol (Active model). I have been very impressed by it.

I would not recommend the Octavia, the Focus is a much better car.

Peugeot 308SW?

For your budget you’ll get the new shape on a 23 plate and manufacturer approved. They drive well, have acres of space and look very modern.

Had one as a courtesy car a while back and was impressed.

Thanks everyone.
An S4 is probably a bit pricey for insurance

A Golf Estate or, if it’s not too big, an Octavia.

If you can fine another £2k you can get a 2nd gen T4 which having bought one 3 years ago for the wife, I can throughly recommend.

Much nicer looking and more comfortable and luxurious inside than a Gen4 Octavia.

Clubman a good shout if you don’t need a truly huge load space , always fancied a JCW variant.

Corolla Hybrid. Quite a pretty car. Always fancied the van version.
