2018 BMW 640i for the smiles
Discussion
Following on from my C43 alternative thread, I think I ve now found what I want following suggestions and my own research, so thanks to those who helped.
I ve found this, a fairly rare and high spec 67 plate 640i
1 prev owner, 8 service records, 76k, HUD, apple car play, 360 cam, soft close doors, HK sound, suede headliner
It s advertised at £17490 which auto trader suggests is high, but it s hard to gauge as they re so rare
Mileage a bit higher than I d like, even on an N55 engine. There seems to be 1 main thing that will soon need sorting from a maintenance point of view. (Water pump)
What are people s thoughts. Happy to hear previous owner stories or people who maybe thought about the 640 but chose an alternative.

Unless it's had a recent major just bear in mind the first service could cost you the thick end of £5,000 if you give it brakes, tyres, transmission fluid etc.Beyond that, if you want a big, mainstream saloon with a hefty engine just buy it. They're cheap because most people don't want them. So make sure it's a keeper before you take the plunge.
The alternative would be to run it cheaply for 18 months (with your fingers tightly crossed) and then move it on.

- dealer may be 5* but vast majority are anonymous
- 8 services on idrive can often include brake changes so under CBT could be quite minimally / under serviced for a future owner
- black grills always makes me unsure too

Since posting, I’ve chose against it. I rang and asked about work that’s been done and they have no receipts. Water pump, various gaskets all need doing soon and probably many plastic parts. - dealer may be 5* but vast majority are anonymous

If it was on 60k I’d have no hesitation but 76k feels risky without knowing what’s been done.
The previous 4 BMW services were the standard stuff which is the absolute bare minimum I’d expect
Shame as it’s so well spec’d
