Unique parameters for a car purchase..
Discussion
So, I have 1 year old twins, wife has said we need a second car, our only car currently is a 2019 q5 which is a great work horse and our primary car.
The second car will be used to potter around to the nursery and back, the occasional supermarket shop, it might rarely be used to do a commute to work. So it needs to be safe, have 2 isofix seats, side air bags etc.
Now the unique parameters...
I sold a track/hillclimb mk5 golf gti last year and really miss being in track. So I want to have this second car to potter around town in the week and use for track days and the occasional sprint events on weekends.
5.5k is max budget - that is to buy Or to buy and prepare as a safe track vehicle. I would say a safe track vehicle does not need to be fast but run race fluid, performance pads, good condition discs and good condition suspension and engine/gearbox and run acceptable tyres.
I'd like it to be cheap to run, not really fuel but with my budget it's going to be something that needs things fixing now and then more often than most so ideally maintaining is reasonable - basically a cheap 335i for 5k would be a poor choice.
Suzuki swift sport is one option... But struggling to think of any alternatives? I would love something RWD but Mx5 is ruled out as not enihgh seats and not sure there really are any fun rwd cars for that budget that don't need a good amount of money spent to make them fun in the first place!
What are the options?

Gen 3 Focus ST hits the brief, enough space for the twins & a good chassis:

Some are over budget but you should get there with haggling, also I was assuming you need 5 doors?
If not then I'd be buying one of these:
