Mk3/4 vs Mk7 Hilux

Morning All,
Probably a slightly unusual thing to look at here but I thought I’d see if any of you have some experience between the two.
I want to buy a Hilux for my wife to use. She has two other cars that would be used for car stuff. This would be used for putting big bits of wood in, a quad bike or some gentle off roading. Max road distance 40 miles.
She does not enjoy driving my classic Range Rover.
I like the style and general appearance of the older Hilux as well as it being narrower for the lanes we have around us.
I like the newer one for having more poke, probably driving better and being more available. I am worried about the chassis issues and having to sort a replacement chassis.
Do any of you have any experience of both and any thoughts to add that I should consider in choosing one?
