BMW X5 or LR Defender?

I'm torn between the two. Anyone gone from one to the other?

One day I've decided it'll be the Defender (330d), then next day it's definitely the X5 (D350)
Looking for maybe a 2024 model in either option.
I know they are different beasts, but they both appeal.

Will be used to tow my caravan but both are more than adequate for that.
Haven't test driven either yet, which will perhaps be the deciding factor.
I expect the X5 will be a comfier seat and feel more luxurious, but the Defenders are supposed to be great to drive.

I tow with a 2016 X5. 30d. Bloody phenomenal thing. And it gets to the end of the journey as well.

Had the defender for a day and whilst it was nice, I couldn t live with the dread.
I d actually take the discovery over the defender mind. But neither over the X5

I had a Defender 300D and drove it from the U.K. to the Iranian border and back to the UK again. It was faultless.

Both are great vehicles and I guess you would be happy with either so it comes down to styling.
