Hello folks new here looking for a bit of information advice.

Daughter bought the above well I did but it`s her car,
After 5 months she was out shopping went back to the car it would not start nothing zilch.
Called AA out who said all visible fuses and relays OK battery reset tried resets on KMS could not get any fault codes even that would not work.
Took to garage with same result they tried battery and all visible points nothing.
They think the problem is with the body control unit module and the keyless vehicle module system has failed.
If the BCU has failed resetting the KMS will not work because the BCU and KVM must communicate with each other for the car to unlock/start.
Cannot start taking apart as the car was purchased at dealers and looking at sale of goods court case.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as I am clueless regarding...possible faults...ways of diagnosing without taking apart...anybody had same problem...is this a common fault.
In fact ANY input would be really helpful.
Thank you very much in advance.

First comment I'd make is unless you bought it as a business then it is Consumer Rights Act that applies not Sale of Goods.
Read up on your rights but as a heads up within the first 6 months the assumption is the fault was there when bought and the burden of proof lies with the seller to prove otherwise.

Given the car wasn’t a useless brick for five months I’m going to assume that won’t be too hard for them smile

Is it a 2.0 diesel? Probably not relevant to this issue but I always ask when someone says jag or Land Rover

Your story jumps rapidly to court case. What chance has the dealer had to fix? is the dealer the same as the garage you mention? The story just seems a bit muddled.

If you want to try and diagnose further, you could try looking for an auto electrician, preferably one with experience with JLR vehicles.

It's worth reporting the failure to the selling dealer within six months of the sale, as that's a cut-off for the legal presumption that the fault was latent at the point of purchase.

Why do always ask this, whenever someone says Jag or Land Rover? Especially (as you agree), it's not relevant to this issue?

Makes sense for it to go back to the supplying dealers if its still under warranty.
Probably best if it goes back to either JLR ot at least a specialist that knows what they are doing or it could be a whole world of pain.

Because everyone I’ve known that’s bought one hasn’t come out unscathed and I would kind of like a 3.0 diesel JLR at some point but I’m trying to work out how bad of an idea that is

What has the dealer said then?

Have you given them an oppurtunity to fix it?

Sounds like you just need to find a local vehicle lock's expert.

Luckily we have a brilliant one local, called Panther Locksmiths. He has all the gaditry to fix things that the dealers give up on.

I've heard so many main dealers diagnose BCM, it seems the go to thing if they can't fix something.

Most recent a Volvo, £900 bill for a module, didn't fix it, new battery fixed it.

No bought as consumer. Yes give up the ghost after 5 months. Court case going through the system just trying to gather some evidence as to is it a common problem. Has it been diagnosed correctly. Anything that strengthens the case really.
Thanks for your input appreciated.

Dealer is different to garage. Contacted straight away told him there is a problem. Offered chance to repair as long as they covered everything as per sale of goods unsatisfactory quality.
AA took to local garage...Not Jaguar garage impossible to get straight in one...Who diagnosed.
Dealer tried to force me down warranty route that I paid for.
I said no I want it repairing under sale of goods act.
A company got involved called Lawgistics...Ambulance chaser type...Tried everything to force me down warranty route which I do not have to take. They are a joke. They try to force consumers down the warranty route because they have more than one chance to repair the car.
Gone through all the correct channels with backing of citizens advice consumer rights.
Offered them ADR.
Offered for them to have car diagnosed repaired.
Tried everything now waiting for court case to take place.
Thanks for your input appreciated.

Auto electrician cannot do anything without opening the car up as there is absolutely no electrics. AA advise not to start tampering.
Yes dealer involved after 5 months

It`s not a new car. The dealer will not take it back unless we pay for it to get there. We are not obliged to under sale of goods act it is up to them.
Yes we want it to go to JLR but needs to be transported and dealer is saying we responsible for that which we are not.

Having seen many lives ruined by the ingenium, if there’s a chance to get rid of it without losing a bunch of money, I’d push for it. Of course some people will get plenty of life out of them as people only tend to come to the forums when they have a problem but out of the 6 people I’ve known with them, all 6 have had severe issues. 4 of which is blown motors

Said I have to use warranty I don`t it is sale of goods act matter.
All avenues explored with dealer.
Unfortunately more than locks no electrics whatsoever.

Unfortunately it is not worth much more than scrap value at the minute. Has not moved in over a year so has all those associated problems on top of the major electrical faults.
