I think we are very close to ordering some kind of new Kia/Hyundai, however I see there is a new Infotainment system coming.

I'm coming from a Tesla, so the new system looks like a copy of what I'm use to. I'm in a massive rush to change but equally I'm aware you can always wait forever for the next thing coming.

So for those of you with current Hyundai/Kia EVs, how bad is the current system? Would you wait another 12 months for the next system to make it into the current Kia/Hyundai EVs for MY27/28 updates?

Happy with the setup in my EV3. It's not quite perfect, but it's pretty easy to use, with enough physical buttons for things you need to change while driving. Tile-based screens, so you swipe to the display you want.

The new system in that link looks like a proper mess. Far too much going on at the same time.

For what it's worth, when I test drove a 2025 Ioniq 5 I thought it was the best infotainment system I had ever used. This is coming off the back of a 2022 Cupra and 2019 Jaguar (and spending alot of time with JLR's newer Pivi system while I was working there). I found the Hyundai very smooth and easy to use, certainly the closest to a proper smartphone i've experienced in a car so far. Plus I loved that the facelifted Ioniq 5 actually put physical buttons back in for certain functions, so you get the best of both worlds. I have ordered an Ioniq 5 now via my companies salary sacrifice scheme, so time will tell if it behaves in the long run!

We've had an Ioniq and now have an Inster. Don't think we've ever used the infotainment system as it's pretty primitive.

Just use Carplay. It might not be pretty, but the functionality is great. Far better voice control than the Tesla, plus apps like PlexAmp too.

Daughter has a new Kona and she uses CarPlay. She's never commented on the info system, but she'd probably just be baffled, in a "it is what it is" kind of way, by the question if I asked her.

She has said the Hyundai BlueLink? app stopped working - but I think they updated / changed it and she'd far too busy to log in again.
