How big a job is it to change it, can it be done in one day with lifting the engine out? Or is it easier to cut the side chassis bar?
Since finishing my car ive had to have my box out twice. i cut the chassy. First time took about twelve hours then a couple days later had to take it out again which took about 6 hours. it took 2 of us to do the job and it is a bHow big a job is it to change it, can it be done in one day with lifting the engine out? h to do. also you will scratch the chassy alot doing it this way. you will not belive how tight it is to get the box out. I felt like giving up as it just looked impossible. we had to remove the starter, all engine mounts, wishbones,spring and undo the top mountings on the off side hub assy and bracket where it attaches to the engine so it drops down and the drive shaft can be pulled nearly clear of the box. It was a case of pull the box out as far as it will come(only about an inch or so),then up with the engine as far as it will go then out a bit more with the box, now pull the off side shaft clear of the box so you can rotate the box clockwise abit untill a nobly bit that sticks out off the box will clear th chassy(you'll see which bit i mean, for a while i was even thinking about cutting that piece off the box to get it out). also i think you'll need a bar to lever the engine forward at this stage. i think the rest is just more up /down etc with the engine while pulling the box. the last stage was tipping the box up while pulling to get it free of the car.Its not a nice job. But for me i thought it would be better than engine out and loosing/bleeding/replacing all fluids etc
