Looking at buying a Noble

Hi all
I am considering a noble. I had previously discounted them as I thought they would be high on insurance.
I was originally thinking Lotus exile s, or TVR T350, however the t350 is around £2500 more to insure!

Any comments?. Is it missing a bit of trim just under the drivers air vent?
Anything to look out for when viewing?
Also is a car like this ok to be left on my driveway and then dry-stored for winter? Or am I going to be plagued with electrical bugs
How often do they go wrong? As bad as tvr's?

They've very reliable cars.Had mine a good few years now and its been fine.The interior is how shall i put it.........minimalistic
Dont expect the build quality of a Bentley, thats not what these are about.You will soon ignore any negatives about the car when you take one for a drive if you haven't already.

If you are buying a Noble for the first time, make sure you check out a few, so as you will know a good one when you see it. Ask if anybody on the forums lives near you and see if they will be kind enough to show you a good car for a comparison, or in my opinion it would be worth its weight in gold to pay an expert to check the car over for you.
with regards to the TVR versus Noble comparison.
I've owned 1 Cerbera and 3 Tuscans.
Only 1 of my Tuscans was "reliable" ish.
Don't go down the Speed Six engine route unless you really know what you could be letting yourself in for. My mate has spent £10K in 1 year just keeping the engine running.
Out of the 2 Nobles I've owned (both 3Rs) both of them have been hugely more reliable compared to any TVR I've had.
Totally different cars in my opinion. The TVRs will give you boot space and in some cases are much more comfortable over long journeys. I compared my 3R to my friends Tuscan only at the weekend, in the same journey across a part of Europe, same speeds, he used 29litres of fuel to my 32litres. I had to stop more often as my tank was smaller too.
Parts for the Noble are not that specialist whereas the TVR most definately is.
Good luck with your search. Personally I wouldn't just base it on insurance quotes and I'm sure your researching all other angles, e.g. servicing, running costs, reliability, nearest service centre location, etc.
I wouldn't buy a TVR without knowing everything about the condition of the engine, in fact, TVR Power would be my first stop to get the engine properly tested.

I agree with the previous comments in that you should get to know what's out there for sale and to try and view several. In other words take your time.
There's no problem with leaving the car outside for the summer or the winter. My car has not spent a day or night inside since new in March 2004. Which includes the last 2 winters.
Even after 7 years plus, driving an M12 (eg. 180 miles down the M5 to Torquay and back, today), still gives me a sense of drama and driver involvement that none of my other cars (past and present) can even hope to get near (CSL, GTR and M10 included).

Take one for a drive, I brought the first one I saw, but that was more to do with the deal (able to private p/x my Chimera) Lots of us have come from TVR, I loved mine after completly refirbishing it and thought it would take some replacing. Mate of mine has had M3, 360's, Vanquishes, GTR etc and all very nice cars, but nothing feels quite so connected (apart from prehaps the 430 or 458, now that one is good 
) For the money you can't go wrong.
On the insurance, don't forget to tell them about any mods the car may have had. I'm with admiral now, but they won't insure the car with the upgraded turbos the car now has.
As far as the car you are looking at, it looks a good one from the pictures. If you like it, get a garage who understand/have worked on these cars to have a good look over as this could save you money in the long term.

The one i was about to buy from a great friend of mine was stolen during its final check up at Ray West about 3 weeks ago so back to square 1!!
