Rear Wing effectiveness?

Does the rear wing really have any effect on a Noble M12 GTO 3 road car?
The rear wing has no benifit at low speed only at high speed & l doubt on the road you would notice any difference, for road use you are relying on mechanical grip not areo.If you look at Chris's (R0162) White car looks lovely without the wing.

Yes I saw Chris's car on PistonHeads earlier this year, so I was thinking of removing mine and fitting a low profile type, in body colour. If you look at Chris's (R0162) White car looks lovely without the wing.
Something like the way it looks on a Lotus Elise SC.

i removed mine recently to raise the wing into the airflow and fit a gurney strip
i didn't notice much difference when i took it off
but definate difference when i put it back on
Following our track day at Snetterton Gadge and talking with you and Tux, I bought some 10mm angle with the intent of fitting a gurney strip but I read they cause drag.i didn't notice much difference when i took it off
but definate difference when i put it back on
Interesting comments, maybe I should try driving my car with the wing removed.
I would guess the wing as no effect until you’re above the national speed limit.
I was hoping I could get some concrete evidence/results.
I’ve tried searching the web with no results.
mine is set 60mm higher at back than std and 40 mm higher at front than std with a gurney fitted this was how car came so left as was ??? be it right or wrong but car obviously slippyer with out was told of previous owner wing in std position with std mirrors was a waste of time but what do i know??

I've had 4 Esprits, and wings are featured a lot on them, that is that a) there are quite a few different designs and b) it raises a lot of debate as to their effectiveness.
One of the main areas is the size of the wing against the size of the transom ( the bit that sticks up at the back of car ).
This has some stuff from Lotus about the wings etc. I know it's not the same car, but some of it must be relevant.

During my Noble research I came across this: http://www.nobleforums.com/showthread.php?2917-Siz... It details and photographs the plug sizes required if you remove the rear wing, but may want to put it back some day. Thought I would place it here for anyone searching in the future. Apologies for the bump.
During the rain soaked practice on Sunday my Vikki took a few vids of me and its clear to see the long Jetstream diffuser/standard wing and gurney combo create good downforce, the 'rooster tail' is just as large as the focus with the WRC spoiler and diffuser down the back straight. Will try get the video loaded tonight. Also I was able to put down full power in those soaking conditions above 80mph which normally would have been wheels pin up to 120 at least.
