come on then you aural specialists. My 2.5 has today started making a worrying 'rubbery squeak'from the nearside rear. It stops when the car stops, squeaks in time with the wheel rotation & occasionally stops for a couple of minutes. Touching the brakes makes no difference, nor does dipping the clutch. Any suggestions? It is also a very wet day on the roads.

What happens if you apply the handbrake?

not tried that yet. Unfortunately I'm checking the forum out for replies in the middle of the interval in Les Miserables, & that's exactly what I'll be if it doesn't get me home to Sevenoaks tonight after the show!

I had a similar thing when I first bout my car. Started as a wine then a horrible grinding noise. Ended up being a retaining nut on handbrake shoes. If not check ur pads as I've always found the inside wears at a different rate to out side.

My squeak around that area was the rear hub nut. Have you tried moving the car on the flat with the rear clam up, move but pushing, pulling rear wheel. Hope its this as its an easy fix.
