Leaking air : manifold broken ?

Took the Noble for some track last Friday, drove carefully but in the end I got some "whistle/wining" noise from what I think is the manifold (manifold near bulkhead of a 2.5).

The noise : like whistling, higher pitch & louder when accelerating, little bit loss of power (but can be biased ), no noise when off the throttle.

Read that can be welded (with a plate covering the Y), or can put new one (but in that case better to replace them both ?).

If there is a crack, is it easy to remove the front manifold ? From top or from below ?

Are you sure its not a boost hose or wastegate pipe to the front turbo leaking ?

Sadly, that's exactly the sound my turbo made in the first year of ownership. Swapped out on warranty and was fine.

thanx for the tip daddysumo, just checked it : it's none of both, but think I've found it :

bottom plate is still fitted, so hard to check from below, so removed right rear wheel and wheel arch sill : sounds & looks like it's coming from the exhaust tube facing downwards, little bit of smoke rising too when engine is running, hard to see exactly where because exhaust tubing is wrapped in heat resistant 'cord'.

If I have the chance, I will put the car on a bridge & remove the bottom plate to have a good look.

Loose front turbo !!! Had this a couple of weeks ago , undo heat shield and check nuts !!!

felt with my hand through the side when engine running (be CAREFUL trying this @ home, belts running !)

I could perfectly feel the air leaking (puffing) downwards where the front manifold connects to the front turbo ; guess indeed bolts are a bit loose. Will wait to become cold & the turn them on a bit

Hope this solves it, otherwise new gasket ?

update : 4 bolts were a bit loose, so tried to tighten them, but from above it's a pain to access the bolts, so could not put enough force to them.

Puffing is less now, but will visit my local garage tomorrow to access the bolts from underneath, will be much easier to tighten them

took a bit longer than foreseen, but had the chance t put the car on the bridge : there's a piece of the gasket between manifold & turbo that is missing, so no cracked manifold

I will place a new gasket

Just one question : what is the difference between a gasket I can buy from Noble dealer & from fleebay (besides the difference in price) ? One on fleebay is stainless, guess the ones from dealer as well ?

Or just be better safe than sorry & order from dealer ?

If you look on Noble parts you can get the details of some great Nissan gaskets that do the trick , they ate much better than the STD ones !!!!

Some say dont even put them in ! Stops em keep coming loose.

Just make sure you use good nuts (Silver K Nuts if possible)
