To top it off. 3-4 hour wait to get flat bed home. Missed out on a lovely lady being in my bed and saw so many people I knew. Including scoobyp1. Who very kindly blasted off in the other direction in his lovely fully working noble. Cheers mate. Haha. But old drive shaft is off n new one will go on tomorro.
You need to stop racing Ferrari's James unless you can get their clutch to burn out on the spot!
Sorry mate, had to rush off - the gf's parents were about to beat me to my own flat and had no way of getting in!
Get it ready for this weekend and pray the weather is nice again so we can go cruising. I love my new Noble. Except from the rather tinny rattle the exhaust has developed from somewhere at the back - not looked yet to see what causes it.

i dont have any pics to show you but look on the exhaust box, you should see a thin piece of metal welded onto it. Its on the passengers side, see if its snapped,its easy to fix take it to a garage and just as to reinforce and weld it.Adrian W said:

I hadn't either. The driveshaft was new also so I think it may have had a manufacturing faulty. As it's snapped very cleanly as if some had cut it with a knife. New drive shaft will be on tonight so will be able to check if anything else broke with it. jdearden said:

When you say new, was it ford new or after market new?That could be the problem.

how much BHP and torque are you running?what make rear tyres do you have on?

Running about 340 bhp about 300 torque. This driveshaft was from ford direct. Why would tgere be a problem using a aftermarket one. Tgere all built the same. I've actually ordered a aftermarket one as ford wouldn't cover this under warranty as isn't fitted to a ford.
As I Said earlier I think you are the first(if I'm wrong someone will correct me) People with nearly twice your power and torque and far stickier tyres haven't broken driveshafts, it would suggest a manufacturing defect,When you purchased the first shaft did you tell them it was going to be fitted to a Noble? if so did they tell you at the time it had no warranty, otherwise they are wrong.
Why did you change the original shaft in the first place?

I broke my diff n the shafts had a bit of play in them so did them at same time. It was the cv joints that had wear. I was pretty amazed it snapped. Could this have done any other damage do you think
Not if it didn't flail about, fortunately you were pulling away, it would have unloaded the diff very quickly though, if you cant see or feel anything obvious I would put it back together and try it. Adrian W said:

Minor point, but if it was a manufacturing defect then you would have a valid claim under the SoGA regardless of what you fitted it to. As this is defined as what a ‘reasonable person’ would regard as acceptable, taking into account factors such as price paid, fitness for purpose specified, appearance and finish, freedom from minor blemishes, safety and durability. It perfectly reasonable therefore to have expected a new drive shaft to last (on the basis that no others had apparently snapped), then you'd have a claim.
That being said, it's not really worth the hassle of trying to pursue that for such a small amount of money - but it might be worth just checking with Ford that they understand the SoGA
